In reaction to grainy, downtrodden, black and white interpretation of working class life one generally sees, ‘Home’ offers lushly coloured glimpses of the communal spirit, fired by the joys, mishaps, and adventures of family life in the new school of photo-narrative work.

Over the course of a year, Anthony Haughey became intimately acquainted with working-class families in Ballymun, Dublin. He spent countless hours becoming part of the boisterous chaos of they lives, photographing them with sympathetic spontaneity.

Curent issues such as religion, nationalism, emigration, unemployment etc. are all addressed by the work.

This young photographer’s first major one-man exhibition makes viewers thoroughly at home in its warm, welcoming, noisy world.

Anthony Haughey has exhibited in a number of group shows. In July of 1990 he graduated from Farnham, Surrey, with a BA (hons) in photography. Part of this work has already been exhibited in Reims and Dourarnez France. Anthony was runner up in the ICI International Photography Prize in September of this year, competing with thirty European photographers. His work was also included in the “On The Face of Europe” exhibition as part of the Derby festival this year.
